Confirmed: Football star Neymar is ready for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal
Brazil’s Neymar (31) joins the ranks of soccer stars to have announced a transfer to Saudi Arabian football.
Al-Hilal club confirmed the striker’s signing on its channel.
“I am here in Saudi Arabia, I am Hilal,” said the soccer star videos.
According to some media, the transfer fee should be around 90 million euros, equivalent to around NOK 1 billion. According to Sky Sports, the annual salary should be 150 million euros or 1.7 billion Norwegian kroner.
In 2017, Neymar became the most expensive player in football history when he moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for 222 million euros or 2.5 billion Norwegian kroner at current exchange rates.
Among them, the Brazilian won the French League five times and five cup titles with PSG. Neymar has recorded 118 goals and 77 assists in 173 games for the French club.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the first major star to head to the Saudi Arabian league earlier this year. After that, players like Karim Benzema, Jordan Henderson and Riyad Mahrez followed.
The transition to the Saudi Arabian League drew a lot of criticism, as Saudi Arabia was accused of a number of human rights violations.
