There are only a few hours left until this year’s Formula 1 and Formula 2 seasons come to an end. Interest is still high in Norway and looks set to stay that way.
This year, Viaplay’s TV coverage will also expand – including its own Saturday broadcast, in addition to the Sunday broadcast.
What many Norwegians are really excited about this year is how the great talent Dennis Hauger will emerge in his second season as a Formula 2 driver.
Will the 19-year-old racer from Aurskog succeed in becoming Norway’s first Formula 1 driver?
Check out the video from Formula 1 studio Viaplay at the bottom of the article.
– This could be difficult
Broom has asked leading Norwegian experts about it. This year, things are starting to get serious for the youngster.
– It’s now or never, believes Formula 1 commentator Thomas Schie.
He believes that Hauger should at least manage an overall top 3 finish in this year’s championship, if he is to stand a chance of sitting in a Formula 1 seat.
That means MYE will have to turn things around this year, after a somewhat troubled debut season in 2022.
– Ideally, Dennis should win this year. “I believe and hope he is at the top, but winning the whole championship can be tough,” Schie told Broom.
It boils around Dennis: – A circus with huge sums of money!
There is no room for error
This year’s Formula 2 championship level is also sky-high. Schie believes there are 10-12 drivers who all have a chance to win the race.
– What is talking about Dennis, besides the fact that he is a very good racer, among other things, the team changes this year. Dennis himself said that he experienced a very good atmosphere in the team, which is important. On top of that, Dennis has had a season with a lot of experience behind him. I have faith, said Schie.
Formula 1 commentator Atle Gulbrandsen shares the same thoughts as Thomas Schie.
– This year there isn’t much room for error with Dennis. If he wants to have a chance at Formula 1 next year, he has to be at the top by now. It will be very interesting to see. Of course, I have faith too, Gulbrandsen smiled.
