Jacek Kurski is back. Greeted with anger

Since he wrote his last tweet on December 7, 2022, confirming reports of job taking at the World Bank,
Jack Kurski
disappeared from the media. He appeared again in it on 12 April 2023, debuting in the daily “Rzeczpospolita” with the journalistic article “Spring meeting in the shadow of war”. Kurski, from the perspective of a World Bank employee, describes the political and economic realities after the start of the war in Ukraine. The daily text begins with a brief note from the editor-in-chief, BogusÅ‚aw Chrabota, explaining the media’s controversial rise of the former TVP president. He listed four reasons.

Kurski returned to the media. The editor-in-chief of “Rzeczpospolita” commented, the environment is not listening

The first reason is curiosity, according to Chrabota’s statement quoted by the Wirtualne Media portal. “[…] many of us may be interested in what the former president of TVP said in his new role “- he explained. The second point is that the Polish public has the right to know the views – this time – Jacek Kurski, according to the third “Rzeczpospolita” it is “the only forum in the country it is for the exchange of views between political disputants.” The fourth and final reason is that the text proposed by Kurski – the Polish representative on the World Bank’s Board of Directors – adequately meets the requirements of publication in “RZ”.

In response to this case, social media was flooded with comments that did not support the decision of “RZ” and … excerpts from the statements of the main daily a year ago.

“He is biased, the antenna serves as an instrument of party propaganda close to Kurski (…) he destroys information and betrays the principles we once agreed upon” or “I usually think of Jacek Kurski as a scoundrel and a megalomaniac.”

After a wave of outrage, Chrabota called Kurski “the Rzeczpospolita’s new publicist” and pointed out that Kurski did not cooperate with the daily, and “the publication of the text does not change the editor’s opinion of the author’s personal responsibility.” for the long-term destruction of Polish public television and an atmosphere of political hatred.” This did little to affect the acceptance of the journal’s decision.

Recall that Jacek Kurski was president of TVP from 2016 to September 2022 (with a brief hiatus in 2020).
