Czech hockey players returned to training at the World Cup venue in Riga after a holiday on Tuesday, and apart from the injured Filip Chytil, another striker Lukáš Sedlák was missing from the Daugava Arena. He missed out with a lower body injury from Monday’s match against Latvia, which required at least two days of rest.
It was Sedlák who replaced Chytil in the duel with the home side (3:4 in extra time) in the elite formation between Dominik Kubalik and Roman Červenko.
“Lukáš Sedlák suffered a painful injury to the lower half of his body in the match against Latvia and was given two days off. During this time, we are working with the physiotherapist to work on his injury and we will continue to see according to his current state of health ,” team doctor Antonín Chochola told reporters after practice.
On the other hand, forward Filip Chlapík was not left behind on the ice, who after an injury to his upper body following intervention by Slovak defender Patrik Koch of Friday’s opener, completed Tuesday’s voluntary practice with Chytil. They were alone on the ice with video trainer Jiří Horáček, and Chytil was not feeling well after injuring her face during the second half of practice.
Chytila injured defender Danil Butenko with a hockey stick in Sunday’s game against Kazakhstan. Czech players completed training on Tuesday with full face coverings. Today, he was absent from the team’s full preparations ahead of Thursday’s duel with Slovenia.
“Yesterday he completed an individual workout where he had pain in the facial area so we reduced the load. Today he only did dry training and in the following days we will try to get him back to a heavier load,” added Chochola.
