On Sunday, they were ready for this year’s TV campaign “Let children live in peace”, where this year’s money is donated to Save the Children’s work to help children affected by war and conflict – both in Norway and abroad the whole world.
Ada (10) and Ella (7) of Busengdal Hove were among those who stood up and walked around carrying bags to raise money for Save the Children. Together with Jon Opedal Hove’s father, they visited around 50 households in the Apeltun area.
– We have now visited more than half of the addresses we went to. Not everyone was home, but those who answered the door gave an overwhelmingly positive response. And everyone has donated money to the TV campaign, Ada said.
Greeted with a smile and thumbs up
The three lived in Smørås, and first they went to Skjold school to take the bus and choose the area they were going to. Then they traveled back towards Apeltun.
– So far we have walked approximately four kilometers. Everything is going well, but Ella might be starting to get a little tired, says dad Jon.
He continued, there are about half of the 30 homes they have visited on the route so far.
– We were greeted with smiles and thumbs up, so it’s clear people want to support the TV campaign, he said.

The money is channeled to projects in several countries
According to Save the Children, the funds will be used for measures that make families, schools and local environments safer for children.
Here are some steps:
- Helping children deal with painful experiences, providing health care and proper nutrition
- Reuniting separated children and families
- Ensure safe routes to and from school and safe classrooms where children can learn
- Offer children a safe place in the local neighborhood where they can play and laugh
The funds will be distributed to projects in Ukraine, Syria, Bangladesh, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Norway. In Norway, children fleeing war and conflict must be helped.
Biggest in the world
The TV campaign has been carried out every year since 1974 and has become a tradition in Norway. The campaign is the world’s largest fundraising campaign measured by funds raised per head and number of volunteers.
NRK has a TV campaign and the NRK fundraising board allocates the TV campaign.
In addition to charitable collections, contributions and gifts are accepted from municipalities, partners, businesses, organizations, congregations, schools, and nurseries. Donors can make contributions via Vipps, SMS, transfer to account, invoice and card. The current Vipps number is 2133.
Last year, more than NOK 291 million was raised for Doctors Without Borders.
