Prague 12 won the Champion of Healthy Cities, Municipalities and Regions award

On Monday, December 12, the deputy mayor of the city district 1, Petr Šula, received the Champion of Healthy Cities, Cities and Areas award for 2022, which is intended for cities and municipalities, municipalities or regions for active public engagement , strategic planning and management for sustainable development and health.

As informed by the city office in a press release, the handover ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Czech Republic Parliament, where the award was presented by Věra Kovářová, First Deputy President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Parliament, Undersecretary of the Interior David Sláma and Petr Švec, Director of the National Network Healthy City Czech Republic (NSZM).

“We really appreciate this award, it is the result of several years of work by the entire team of employees of the Prague 12 City District Office. In the future we also hope to involve as many residents of the Prague 12 city district as possible in activities that support sustainable development,” said Petr Šula.

For the capital city of Prague, the Prague 10 district also received the Champion of Healthy Cities award for 2022.

National Network of Healthy Cities Czech Republic (NSZM)

It is professionally oriented association 135 cities, towns and regions that have been active in the Czech Republic for almost 30 years. It provides the backdrop for friendly cooperation between politicians and town hall coordinators of the entities involved, sets up a methodology for accredited education for its members and demonstrates hundreds of examples of good practice and mutual sharing of successful solutions.

International program “WHO Healthy Cities”.

Since 1988 it has been implemented under the banner of the World Health Organization (WHO), similar to the “Healthy Areas” programme. In Europe, 1,400 Healthy Cities in 30 countries are currently involved. It is an active movement of European local administrative bodies and areas, which have long struggled to ensure the quality of life and health conditions of its population.
