The politician appeared on Sunday on the television program “Sunday night”.
Zacharov about relations with the Polish authorities
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the authorities would not allow any “disrespectful or unlawful” actions taken by Western countries in relation to Moscow. He told the public that “answers have been given on many fronts”.
Zakharova explained that it was about defamation and demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers, as well as “what happened to Russia”.
He was referring to the May 9 incident, when the Russian ambassador Sergey Andreyev was doused with a red substance in Poland.
– If we talk about political relations with Poland, it requires a very serious analysis of how to basically build relations with the current leadership of this country. Because no one should think that they can survive at their current level. Impossible – said a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Zakharova also paid attention to diplomats expelled from Western countries. Nearly 400 people have been expelled since the start of a new phase of the war in Ukraine by Russia – what Moscow calls a “special military operation”. Politicians emphasize that the work of these personnel should be evaluated, and diplomats will be transferred to other institutions, including in Asian countries.
Attack of an activist on Ambassador Andreyev
Let us remind you that on May 9 Russia celebrates Victory Day in World War II. As part of the event, the Russian Ambassador to Poland wanted to lay a wreath at the Mausoleum of the Soviet Army in Warsaw. The diplomat was drenched in a red substance by an activist who came to the scene with a group of Ukrainians holding anti-Russian slogans.
Iryna Zemlyana admitted the assault on camera, but so far has not been arrested by the police. It is not known if he was summoned. The woman is associated with the organization “Open Dialogue” by Bartosz Kramek and has participated in the past in actions against the Polish state.
What is the legal responsibility under Polish penal code for attacks on foreign ambassadors? This violation is sanctioned by Art. 136 of the Criminal Code.
