CZECH REPUBLIC – This year, May 15th is the 155th national day of emergency medical emergency services for the fifth time across the Czech Republic.
Date 15. 5. selected symbolically, with reference to the medical emergency line 155, which represents the most important link between rescuers and those who need help. The operators handling the emergency line are trained paramedics or registered nurses. Bear in mind that this is not the rule in some other developed countries. And that’s why the results of our rescue services are some of the best in the world, and we are very proud of it. Thanks to its state-of-the-art active telephone assistance system, the Czech Republic is on top of the world in providing lay resuscitation to people affected by sudden circulatory arrest. This fact fundamentally increases the hope of saving and recovering patients.
Emergency services in the Czech Republic were set up within each region, so that their organizations can respond well to the specifics of the region. From a functional perspective, within the IZS framework, rescue services are a single entity that does not differentiate between regional boundaries. Real evidence is not only cooperation between regions or daily joint exercises, but also, for example, the unanimous support for the use of the Záchranka application. The Czech Republic is thus one of the few countries in the world that operates this unified system for accurately requesting assistance.
