Klæbo’s injury is worse than expected – will have to train for weeks
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has suffered a strain or stress injury to the top of his hamstring that could keep him out for several months.
National team doctor Ove Feragen confirmed this to Adresseavisen. Klæbo has given permission to doctors to answer questions about his injury situation.
– He had feelings three or four weeks ago. The MRI images were taken about two weeks ago, and the damage was investigated. “We have confirmation that there is a strain or stress injury at the top of the hamstring, which is located in the seat,” said Feragen.
– Injuries like that take time. Based on experience, we assume that it takes six to twelve weeks from the time the injury occurs until it is completely healed, he continued.
Klæbo had a feeling in training a few weeks ago and adjusted his training plan so as not to provoke injuries.
The Byåsen runners will initially take part in the national team meetings in Steinkjer in mid-August and Toppidrettsveka towards the end of the month. His next plan is to travel to Park City, USA, where he will spend four weeks at the summit.
Feragen said it was uncertain whether the ski star should drop something or change his plans.
– The entire health team is monitoring the situation closely. We evaluate week by week with respect to what makes sense. (NTB)
