They are experiencing their worst crisis in 150 years. Ukraine will send them a ship – Wprost

The first ship carrying Ukrainian grain left the port of Odessa, the Associated Press reported. This is an implementation of an international agreement signed on 22 July. A special agreement for the export of Ukrainian grain through three Black Sea ports was signed by Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the United Nations.

The Turkish Defense Ministry announced that the cargo ship Razoni, sailing under the flag of Sierra Leone, departed from the port of Odessa. The destination is Lebanon. The United Nations says Razoni was carrying more than 26 tonnes of corn. The ship is due to arrive in Istanbul on Tuesday, where it will be inspected before being allowed to continue.

Ukraine. Boats from Odessa leave for Lebanon

According to the World Bank, Lebanon has been in its worst financial crisis in 150 years. In 2020, an explosion occurred at Beirut’s main port destroying the Middle Eastern nation’s capital, including grain silos. The debris fragments collapsed on Sunday, after a fire that lasted several weeks, caused by the fermentation of the grains stored in it and the ignition of the grain debris. Firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire, which had been raging for weeks. This should weaken the structure of the building.

The corn ship will arrive in Lebanon, Tripoli. “Today, Ukraine and its partners are taking another step to prevent world hunger,” said Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister, Oleksandr Kubrakov. The politician added that it would also help Ukraine. “Unblocking ports will give the economy at least $1 billion in revenue, and the agricultural sector will be able to plan for next year,” he concluded.
