A new report shows that under the current administration of President Jair Bolsonaro, the world’s largest rainforest destruction has increased.

This is one of the reasons why Neto wanted a change of government in Brazil.

It is a great honor for us that other indigenous peoples see the Sami Parliament as a possible model for building their democracy, said Muotka.

However, he stressed that the choice of a political model is entirely up to the indigenous peoples themselves.

– They are the ones who know best the conditions in their residential area, said Muotka humbly.

Lula returns as president

In the Socialist Party, they hope that the presidential candidate from the Labor Party, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, becomes president again.

He was president from 2003 to 2010. Now he is running again.

In the poll published on Monday, Lula leads by 15 percentage points. He gets 46 per cent, while Bolsonaro is backed by 31 per cent.

If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, there will be a second round of voting on October 30.

In the event of a socialist election victory, the Socialist Party and the Labor Party will form a joint government.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva later became president. Geraldo José Rodrigues Alckmin Filho became vice president.

– Both of us in the Socialist Party and the Labor Party are concerned with the human rights of indigenous peoples. We will protect the environment. Lula wants to make her own Ministry for indigenous peoples if he wins the election, said Neto.

He hopes the next step is to work on the establishment of an indigenous parliament in Brazil.
