Three steps to wake up a tired relationship

We are all born with the gift of creativity. What we do with it is completely up to us. It can be used to succeed in business, art, writing or building better relationships, says international speaker, author and founder of the Center for Transformational Coaching Maria Morrissey.

According to him, there are no limits to using creativity, especially in relationships. And he offers three tips on how to wake up a tired relationship.

Imagine what it would be like to live again

A great relationship is one where both partners can and do enjoy life to the fullest when they are together. What form can this manifest in?

Common toxic habits that destroy relationships

  • Hearing your colleague’s voice and seeing his face makes you happy.
  • You are amazed at how lucky you are to be together. Even though you’ve been together for a long time.
  • You enjoy happy times together and appreciate love and support in difficult times.

Ask for feedback, be open to answers

You can restore and improve your relationship by learning to address all the things that cause disagreements and trying to improve the situation.

For example, is the cell phone or television an element of distraction that divides you? Tell your partner and try to suggest a solution. But still, be open to suggestions. Communication is always an important step, but it is often overshadowed by bad habits.

Make positive changes

Once you know which behavioral patterns are most damaging to your relationship, you can start to address them holistically, the expert says. That’s when creativity comes into play the most – not only in how to prevent bad behavior, but also in how to learn to be more considerate, helpful and kind to yourself.

For example, the expert gave one piece of advice – if you feel the need to reach for your phone every time you see your partner instead of arguing or having fun with them, try to find something about your partner that you truly admire.

“Not only does this remove barriers to relationship happiness, but it also opens the way for you to notice things you might have previously taken for granted,” she adds.
