Tons of Rock has secured the legend of Judas Priest and filled audience surveys where the icons are at the top of almost every list. Tons of Rock is the first European festival to launch the heroes who recently celebrated 50 years of service to rock music and have sold an impressive 50 million albums.

Tons of Rock is hard at work with its first releases for next year, which also marks the festival’s tenth anniversary.

– An icon and headliner for generations of fans! Many audiences know how to raise expectations, and with the success of the four days still fresh in our minds, we are always looking to surpass ourselves. The first releases for next year’s festival are filled with favourites. Judas Priest is always on everyone’s bucket list, and is a band we’ve been trying to book for years. Finally getting it at Tons in Oslo was a treat. Combined with Parkway Drive who are one of the new festival headliners in Europe, national treasure Abbath will finally return to perform a collection of songs Immortal, crowd favorite Opeth will put on a unique show with songs chosen by the audience Ton of Rock, and the exclusive visit of Satyricon is no exception on home soil, we see the beginning of an all-time birthday party for Tons of Rock, says general manager and booking officer, Jarle Kvåle.

One of the biggest bands in five decades! Rob Halford is still the high priest of hard rock songs, and since the start of his career in Birmingham in 1969 has performed signature songs that are still branded as undisputed classics. Iconic songs like “Breaking the Law,” “Painkiller” and “Living After Midnight” on Ekebergsletta are sure to be memorable, and the band heads into winter with a new album. The band was recently and deservedly inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, after a full 50 years at the helm of the iconic rock band.

Satyricon is back – one of the most famous black metal bands in the world returns to the live stage after dedicating the last few years to the huge success of their Munch exhibition! For the first time in five years, Sigurd Wongraven and co. returns to the Norwegian stage, after they performed a magnificent concert at Tons of Rock in 2019. A new album will also be released in 2024.

When metal fans around the world close their eyes and think of Norwegian black metal, the iconic Abbath is usually what they imagine. With intense touring activity since the early nineties, when several other legends of the genre were unable to tour due to prison sentences and other harsh circumstances, Abbath and the Norwegian Immortal put themselves firmly on the map as purveyors of black metal as exciting as it is brutal with personality that Extraordinary. Now the most recognized figure in the genre comes to Oslo to play an exclusive set of Immortal songs only.

The ever-relevant Parkway Drive have stepped into the elite division as standard bearers for melodic, brutal metalcore, and are now topping European festivals. Last year’s “Darker Still” showcased a band still delivering the biggest breakdowns and riffs combined with incredible live energy. The headliners of a new generation of rock and metal will take Ekebergsletta by storm in June. Sweden’s Opeth have visited Tons of Rock several times, and are undoubtedly crowd favorites. This time they let fans choose the set list for a unique concert experience at Ekebergsletta. Oslo’s biggest rock band, Oslo Ess, are coming for their only performance of the summer at Tigerstaden. With 4,000 tickets sold in Oslo this fall, they are now ready for their biggest house concert ever. Motorpsycho comes to Tons of Rock for the first time with a unique collection of festival tracks from their incredible catalogue.

Expanding the experience of visiting stone tourists

Tons of Rock has been working hard for several years to find suitable new areas in Oslo to meet visitor accommodation demand. The festival announced on Monday that in 2024 it will present a new festival camp on the Bjerke run, complementing the offer at the Ekeberg campsite.

This year’s Tons of Rock saw visitors from 72 different countries. The festival is experiencing increased interest from around the world and celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024.
