The Rav4 gets, among other things, a new multimedia system and several driver assistants.
It’s mostly about electric cars when it comes to new car sales here in Norway, but there are other cars that are more or less in good shape. It’s a Toyota Rav4.
It was actually Norway’s second best-selling new car last year, and only the Tesla Model 3 has caught up with the SUV model, which is also available as a charging hybrid.
After the first five months of the year, the Toyota Rav is in 13th place on the Road Traffic Information Board registration list, and along with the Toyota Yaris at 18th, only two cars in the top 20 are unlikely to get it as a pure electric car.
Toyota is now doing what they can to keep the model up to date, and is now announcing a number of improvements that will be available for the 2023 edition.
At the very least, the upgraded version uses Toyota’s latest multimedia system, and it comes in the form of a new 10.5-inch color screen.
It also enables cloud-based navigation through the built-in data plan, which in turn enables more accurate maps and the most accurate trip planning where information is constantly updated. Navigation also includes live details about traffic and road incidents, and whether there is parking available nearby.
The Japanese brand also offers an app, where car owners can check things like driving analysis, fuel levels, alerts, and track cars.
Version 2023 also allows voice commands to adjust climate control, select multimedia options, make phone calls or open and close windows.
“Hey Toyota” is the key word, and if, for example, you tell the car that “I’m cold,” it should respond by closing the windows or turning up the air conditioner.
The upgraded Rav4 also offers an optional multimedia system with more functionality, and this allows, among other things, that the built-in navigation system will also work without a data connection. The system also recognizes road signs, and can provide local weather alerts and warn drivers of restricted LEZ (low emission zones).
Other news includes multiple remote functions, including the ability to unlock the car – which is smart if someone has forgotten something in the car. And yes, it is also possible to operate the air conditioner.
All new Toyota cars also open up the possibility of deciding what to display on the 12.3-inch TFT screen, so here it’s possible to display things like eco-driving meters, track information, or Adaptive cruise control info.
Toyota has also opened up the space for new safety features, including the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with intersection support and Emergency Steering Assist, which can, for example, help avoid collisions with stray pedestrians on the road.
Of course, you can’t make so many updates without offering something new on the outside too, so the new Rav4 will also be available in the new Platinum White Pearl exterior color. In the Style edition, Toyota also offers a bi-tone Platinum White Pearl with Midnight Black Metallic.
The Toyota Rav4 is now in its fifth generation introduced in 2019, and the rechargeable hybrid is the most powerful so far with 306 horsepower. It also has an electric range of 75 kilometers.
