The trial between doctor and former politician Džamila Stehlíková and President Miloš Zeman will begin more than a month in advance. A new trial is scheduled for September 8. It was originally planned for October 18th. Zeman sued Stehlíková for his text from last October, when he commented on the president’s health in relation to alcohol consumption. Among other things, he talks about metabolic disorders resulting from alcoholic liver cirrhosis.
Džamila Stehlíková herself confirmed the date from the Seznam Zprávám court information portal. “My lawyer passed it on to me. The reason was the planned incompetence of the judge,” said the doctor.
Delaying the deadline by more than a month would make it difficult for him to find an expert opinion on the report prepared by the plaintiff. “I had little chance to do it because the forensic expert excused himself because he was busy,” he explained.
He added that he would defend himself in court. “It doesn’t bother me, because I believe what I did was right. I was accused of deliberately defaming someone based on false information. I am based on more than ten years of observation of the President, his lifestyle and alcohol consumption,” he said. According to him, his concerns about the president’s health were later confirmed by the hospitalization and the dramatic course of the illness.
Castle is often unclear about the president’s hospitalization last year
The list of reports under the Information Act describes what preceded the president’s hospitalization, which lasted a month and a half.
“I believe that I will convince the court that I am acting in an effort to help patients and to prevent unauthorized persons from taking over the administration of the country,” Stehlíková told Seznam Zprávám.
He will also attend court in private for his own defense. It is unclear whether prosecutor Miloš Zeman will personally arrive at the District Court for Prague 3. His spokesman Jiří Ovčáček did not respond to the question. He did not communicate with Seznam Právrami for a long time.
Stehlíková commented on the president’s health last October, when Zeman was also hospitalized. A special ambulance took him from the palace in Lány on 10 October. He was hospitalized for more than a month and a half. The palace did not disclose the reason for the hospitalization.
Zeman filed the lawsuit on January 31 this year. “This refers to a precisely defined statement. Dr. Stehlíková himself says that he is not a gastroenterologist, that he speaks based on his thirty-five years of experience as a psychiatrist, a professional specialist,” said castle attorney Marek Nespala.
President sues former minister
Psychiatrist and former minister Džamila Stehlíková last October in connection with the health of President Miloš Zeman spoke, for example, about the fact that the president’s abstinence in hospitals led to the onset of delirium tremens. He also spoke of severe brain damage or metabolic disturbances due to alcoholic liver cirrhosis. He viewed the president’s lawsuit as an attempt to intimidate him.
Even before that, Castle sent him a pre-law suit in which he demanded payment of one million crowns. This was originally supposed to go into an Endangered Children’s Fund account. But apparently from the text of the lawsuit, he had to send money to Miloš Zeman’s Waqf Fund account. In addition to the payment of one million crowns and an apology for harming the honor, seriousness and dignity of the president, part of the pre-trial challenge was the disclosure of the names of co-workers who would provide him with information published in text about his blog.
Stehlíková claims that Zeman’s lawyers are trying to move the case to a political and influential level. Which he refused. “This is not a political process, I’m not running for anything, neither is Mr President.”
