A planned university nursing home in Grimstad will be scrutinized.
– I think it is very exciting that we are the first in Norway and the world to be able to make this happen, says Silje Bjerkås, project manager at the municipality of Grimstad.
The University of Agder has one of the strongest professional environments in the field of artificial intelligence in the country, and the plan is for the technology to be actively used in everyday life in nursing homes.
Nursing homes for the future
Recently, the actors who will collaborate in the nursing home held their first workshop to find solutions.
– It is important to be close to the vocational schools and UIAs we see here, said Bjerkås, pointing towards the university buildings.
There must be close cooperation between city governments, universities, vocational schools and other partners. The plan is complete within five years.
No support promised
NRK recently explained the big thing staffing needs in elderly care.
According to the project actors, collaboration between health education programs could be the solution.
In August, said Health Minister Ingvild Kjerkol Grimstad address time that the planned university hospital in Grimstad may have some advantages
However, Kjerkol could not guarantee APBN support for the project.
This project has received support of NOK 800,000 from the State Administrator in Agder.
Unique for patients and relatives
The UIA says it will donate healthcare workers to nursing homes, but technology training will also be important in further development.
– At the Grimstad campus, we have a strong technological environment, and linking technology and health together is what is needed in the future, because we do not have as much workforce as we would like, says Professor Mariann Fossum.
The nursing home will double the number of nursing home places in the municipality.
– Professional groups must work together to overcome this challenge, taking into account that there are more elderly people and fewer people who care for them, we must also think that we will provide a good offer, says Hilde Marie Aas, head of studies at the Vocational School in Agder
The Municipality of Grimstad, UiA and the University of Applied Sciences in Agder want to establish a university nursing home within five years.
– We hope that this will be a good nursing home for patients and their relatives, emphasizes Silje Bjerkås.
