Three books from Pomerania, out of twenty nominations, compete for the prestigious title “History Book of the Year”. Winners will be chosen by the jury members, and by readers in an online poll. Voting is now underway. The title with the most votes will join the winning book selected by the jury.

This year, 127 publications were submitted to the “History Book of the Year” competition. The jury was appointed by the organizers, chaired by Prof. dr. habit of Grzegorz Kucharczyk, choosing 33 books, from which will choose the winner in four categories. Readers on the website will also vote for winners in popular science and science categories xiazkahistorycznaroku.pl. Voting lasts until October 31, 2022.

Three books from Pomerania made it to the final – one by dr. custom of Grzegorz Berendt, director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdask, and two by Wojciech Wencel, a Gdask-born poet and journalist.

In the category “Best scientific books on the history of Poland and Poland in the 20th century”, you can vote for the following titles:

It should be noted that due to the fact that the last two books by Wojciech Wencel were included, the author appeals to social media not to “disturb the vote” and vote primarily for the book “Wierzyński. It means over defeat.

The winner of the “History Book of the Year” competition for Oskar Halecki will receive a statue and a cash prize funded by: Polish Television, Polish Radio, National Memorial Institute and National Center of Culture. The award ceremony will take place on December 1, 2022. at the headquarters of Polish Television. The aim of the competition is to popularize the latest history of Poland and to promote the reading of history books.
