– It’s been three years since the idea of the big eel emerged. That’s why I’m so happy that agreement has now been reached that the moose can be realized, says artist Linda Bakke.
The moose, possibly the largest in the world, will overlook the national highway 3 from Bjøroa’s resting place in Stor-Elvdal. It will be manufactured from steel polished to a shine and shine.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration also previously used reindeer art to enliven a length of national highway 3 and focus on the dangers of reindeer and traffic safety. But the moose that will now be created will probably surpass all that.
Giving the green light
It was a long and complicated process to determine the final design and technical details of the reindeer artwork. But now the agreement has been signed.
Artist Linda Bakke will create the moose. Sparebanken Hedmark arts fund will finance the project, while the Norwegian Public Roads Agency will provide the land and create a resting place where the reindeer will stand.
Will be a big attraction
The large deer, which is 10 meters high and 12 meters long, will certainly be a special attraction in the new picnic area.
The Bjøroa rest area, located along highway 3 in Stor-Elvdal, midway between Oslo and Trondheim, will be upgraded to the main rest area on this stretch.
Linda Bakke is ready to start, and according to the plan, the moose will be housed in a rest area over the next year.
