Keane’s goal saved Everton’s points in a wild game
Two red cards, a penalty and an attack from the centre-back. Those were some materials when Everton and Tottenham drew at Goodison Park.
A rather tame clash really erupted when Abdoulaye Doucoure received a straight red card after facing Harry Kane’s face with his arm. And just moments later things went from bad to worse for Everton when Michael Keane scored the penalty.
Kane saved from the penalty spot in a duel with his national teammate Jordan Pickford. With a goal advantage and one man on the field, Tottenham looked to be in good control, but Everton were rising on the brink.
Tottenham fell further behind to maintain their lead and invite Everton into the game. They really saw their chance when Lucas Moura received a straight red card for a tackle on Michael Keane.
It was Keane for better or worse for the home side as it was he who saved the point: A cannonball from the English player whizzed past Hugo Lloris, into the corner and saved what could have been a crucial point for Everton.
Everton are in 15th place, but just one point above the relegation zone. Tottenham overtook Manchester United in the standings and are in the top four, but the London team has played two more games.
