Malaga is one of the best big cities in the world where people prefer to buy second homes, according to the latest data.
Malaga is the only Spanish city to feature in the top five in a survey carried out by real estate agency GetAgent. Interest in the Costa del Sol destination comes amid a tourism boom, with millions of people around the world flocking to its beaches, climate and rich culture.
“Malaga is a city known for its museums and galleries, perfect for art lovers and has beautiful beaches, making it a great holiday destination for owners and tourists,” says GetAgent.
At the top of the list we find the Gold Coast, a city in Australia that is also popular for its sandy beaches and fantastic theme parks. The city’s popularity has led to a significant rise in house prices.

House prices in the city of Malaga are also on the rise, and according to figures from Fotocasa, they became 20% more expensive last year. Now it costs 3,300 euros per square meter.
The next Spanish city on the list is Valencia which is ranked 18th. GetAgent has also analyzed country-by-country data to compile its rankings, and it’s Ireland that tops the list. It is followed by New Zealand, the UK, Equatorial Guinea, Italy, Portugal and, in seventh place, Spain, with 29,200 annual searches.
