The festival will offer audience performances, concerts, installations and screenings at these venues, and head to the Olomouc Exhibition Center for the first time. PAF Spring will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, spokeswoman for the event Nela Klajbanová told TK. The festival returns to audiences after two years of physical absence, due to the measures of the pandemic.
“PAF Spring Olomouc will take place in the greenhouse of palms, oranges and pavilions at the Flora Olomouc Exhibition Center, except for a concert by British composer Richard Skelton with guest Ian Mikyska, who will accompany him on the viola da gamba in the Baroque Chapel Corpus Christi’s installation at the Deniska Showcase is prepared by David Střeleček. Screenings for families will also take place outside the Exhibition Ground at the Tomivo Gelato ice cream parlor,” said Klajbanová.
The main part of the festival will be centered at Pavilion G, where the event will open with a discussion on film archiving, video and internet art. The Only Glass between Us exhibition with selected visual artists’ works will open in the palm greenhouse on Friday. A book launch of How to Enjoy Film in the presence of visual culture historian Pavel Ryška and illustrator Jan rámek is also planned.
The show will also be highlighted by a video of the moving statue of Shift, who will tour the Olomouc park together with writers, visual artists Matěj Al-Ali and Tomáš Moravec. The adjacent orange stand will be converted into a movie theater during the festival. Ryan Trecartin and Lizzie Fitch will present their work to the audience on the orange plant screen.
The second day of the festival will open AniPromítačka, a projection band of plant and animal life. The presentation and projection of Lucie Svobodová, the pioneer of computer animation and video art, is coming to Orange you know, so am I. Festival events will then move to the historic sights of central Olomouc. The series of events, conceptualized as sightseeing, will begin with AniPromítačka at the Tomivo Gelato Ice Cream Parlor on Ztracená Street. A few steps away at the PAF Gallery, the Babeworld team will open an exhibition called Rack Your Brains, and in the nearby Showcase Deniska will open exhibition by David Střeleček Horizon Towers,” said a festival spokesperson.
The event will culminate with Saturday’s concert at the Baroque Corpus Christi Chapel. More information is at page festival.
