The most successful Christmas films have a main cast (Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Tyler Perry, Mark Rylance). The plot is based on scientists discovering a comet that could destroy the entire Earth. But the disastrous motive is just a pretext for McKay to poke fun at today’s consumer society. This is a satire about politics, media and social networks.
He describes the incompetence, ignorance, superficiality and arrogance of politicians (the president appears in the film, but the press writes that he mainly parodies Trump), the world of crazy billionaires who think they are gods, the world of TV shows and social networks where everything changes for light pleasure, for entertaining, silly jokes.
McKay mocks people’s inability to think critically, the growing stupidity of the Internet, where nonsense and conspiracy theories are rife, such as that comets don’t exist.

The second place was occupied by the drama In Disgrace with Sandra Bullock. The actress plays a convict who returns to a normal life after many years. He’s serving his sentence for murdering the sheriff. He anxiously tried to make contact with his younger sister, which the authorities did not allow. It is gradually revealed that things are getting more complicated and the fault lies not only with the woman being punished.
The third place went to the animated comedy Back from the Wilderness. The fourth is the American action thriller Red Notice, which stars Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, Chris Diamantopoulos, Vincenzo Amato and Alexander Perkins. The fifth is the French drama Mystère.
Surprisingly Christmas Eve is Oldboy’s sixth film, an action engraving in which they play
Josh Brolin, Sharlto Copley, Samuel L. Jackson, James Ransone, Lance Reddick and Richard Portnow.
