Fredrik (19) is one of the youngest in Norway with a master’s degree

AGE OF 19: Fredrik B. Stephansen was proud when he completed his bachelor’s degree from BI at the age of 17.

Now he is one of the youngest people in the country with a completed master’s degree.

This summer, Fredrik B. Stephansen (19) can celebrate that he has completed a two-year master’s degree in innovation management from Kristiana College.

With that, there was a stark difference between him and other 19-year-olds.

While many may be in a gap year, just starting college or working to earn money, this 19-year-old is something quite different.

He already has a bachelor’s degree, now he also has a master’s degree.

When asked about the big difference between him and others, he replied:

– No, it’s a bit of fun, but I didn’t really think about it.

– What do your friends say about this?

– They think it’s a bit strange, but they also get used to it, says the 19-year-old girl.

Høyskolen Kristiania confirmed to VG that Fredrik had completed his master’s degree with them.

Been doing things differently so far

It all started in elementary school. Things are not going well here.

– I felt stifled, and then after a bit of changing schools, I ended up home schooling, says Fredrik.

Here he is challenged and given the opportunity to work at his own pace – a full 100.

It goes fast.

– After a long process, we got me to start taking some subjects in high school when I actually went to primary school, gradually I took more subjects, he said.

When Fredrik was in 6th grade, he took subjects that were actually required in 9th grade at the same time.

In the end, he had taken all subjects in high school, except for languages.

– I finished 7th grade and 10th grade at the same time, he said.

It was then that the family went to the school director at Asker to request that he be removed from the school system.

– That’s what it takes to start high school, says Fredrik.

RUSSET TIME: Here, Fredrik B. Stephansen celebrates that he has completed VGS – at just 14 years old. The Russian suit is in place, as among its older classmates.

11 year old boy at VGS

When he was 11 years old, he joined Sandvika high school.

While other students are between 15 and 18 years old, Fredrik was just 11 years old when he started at VGS.

He celebrated the Russian era when he was 14 years old. But no Russian buses or drinks. The Russian suit is enough for him.

– But I’m fine. I’m social. After all, I have a few friends who are the same age as me in my free time, he said.

At the age of 14 he also applied to BI Business School to take a bachelor’s degree in economics and administration.

When he finished, he started a two-year master’s at Kristiania University College, and now he has completed his education with a master’s degree in boxing.

Looking forward to the holidays before adulthood begins

The 19-year-old man has finished his studies this time.

– I have been in education for many years like most 25-26 year olds, so frankly I’m getting a little bored, he says.

He hasn’t applied for any summer jobs this year, his goal is to take things in stride for the time being.

– I want to enjoy the last eight weeks of summer vacation I have before adulthood begins.
