Most of the rail network in northern Germany was suspended for nearly three hours on Saturday morning.
According to the German railway company Deutsche Bahn, it was sabotage that led to the stoppage.
– Sabotage of a cable critical to rail traffic meant the Deutsche Bahn had to stop north earlier today for nearly three hours, the company said according to NTB.
The main German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that there were broken wires in two places.
According to the newspaper, in order to cause this type of sabotage, one must have in-depth knowledge of the railway network.
The fault itself has now been repaired, but there is still a chance for traffic disruption throughout the day.
According to German Bild, police are now investigating the incident.
