Earlier this week, Russia’s former president and current member of the country’s Security Council, Dimitrij Medvedev, suggested that a defeated Russia could use nuclear weapons. At the same time, Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that a Ukrainian attack on the annexed Crimean peninsula would be “extremely dangerous” and this would elevate the conflict to a new level.

Asked whether Russia was engaging in dangerous and reckless nuclear weapons rhetoric, Russian Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, blamed the United States for the statement. He denied that the Russian authorities were making harmful actions and statements.

– The only thing we are doing is constantly warning Washington that their policy of ensuring Russia’s strategic defeat on the battlefield is rapidly driving the world towards a catastrophic scenario, says ambassador for state-run Russian news agency Scavenge.

– Nuclear Armageddon

The Russian diplomat questioned what he claimed was a Biden administration that had not caught the Kremlin’s signals.

– I want to ask the American public a question; what else should Russia say or do to wake up those perceived to be bad at leadership and prevent the nuclear holocaust that the White House so desperately wants to prevent to the public, Antonov said.

– Full hybrid war against Russia

Antonov also accused the US and other countries of waging a hybrid war against Russia. Hybrid warfare combines conventional warfare with other means such as terrorism, cyber attacks and sabotage.

– America and its allies have started a full-fledged hybrid war against Russia on our own territory, the diplomat said according to Tass.

Still heading to the US

Earlier in January, Russia’s ambassador to the United States accused the United States of supporting what he believed to be “Nazi leadership” in Kyiv. The statement came about in light of the fact that the Ukrainian army will receive missile training in Oklahoma in the US.

Antonov considered the training to be proof that the US was actively participating in the war in Ukraine.
