Russia cannot stand alone

Vladimir Putin attended a video conference with other Russian authorities on Monday, Reuters wrote.

Here he states that it is impossible for Russia to be completely cut off from the outside world, and that the country should focus on developing its own technology.

– We obviously can’t live isolated from the outside world, but we don’t want that. In today’s world, you can’t just make a circle with a compass and put up a giant fence. That’s impossible, Putin said.

Will focus on technology

Russia has been in partial isolation after it invaded Ukraine, including through six EU sanctions packages.

According to NTB-AFP, Putin believes that Russia can solve many problems if the country makes technology the main focus of development.

– This is a big challenge for the country. Realizing the magnitude of the challenges we face, we will seek new solutions in an energetic and competent manner, the president said.

A number of leading technology companies, including Apple, Microsoft and Intel, suspended operations in Russia following the massive invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Will meet Erdogan

According to the Kremlin, Putin will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Tehran on Tuesday to discuss, among other things, grain exports.

After Russia invaded Ukraine and blocked the country’s port cities on the Black Sea, grain exports from Ukraine have been halted.

Turkey and the United Nations have been working to reach an agreement on grain exports from Ukraine – one of the world’s largest grain exporters – but up to 25 million tonnes of grain is still available in Ukraine pending export.

The case became a topic when the military envoys of Ukraine and Russia met for direct talks for the first time since March in Istanbul on Wednesday last week. It was then announced that a deal could be done this week.
