Although heat records were broken in Oslo on Tuesday night, snow fell in southern Norway on Wednesday evening.

After several mild days, the air has become much colder in southern Norway, the Meteorological Institute reported on X/Twitter.

– In the high mountains, there was rainfall like snow last night.

Meteorologists say now is the time to consider winter tires if you’ll be traversing the many mountain passes ahead.

This also applies in the northern region.

– In the next few days, northern Norway will receive colder air masses from the northwest – and temperatures will drop. If you head to the mountains, there may be white showers on Wednesday and Thursday, meteorologists wrote.

On Tuesday evening, the weather station in Oslo measured the coolest September night since 1968. A number of temperature records were also measured over the weekend, in both southern and northern Norway.

The temperature of Etne in Vestland reached 28.3 degrees, which is a new regional record. Some stations have a short series of measurements spanning 20 years, while others date back to the 1920s.

At the same time, the message from meteorologists is that the heat will be short-lived. On Wednesday, the temperature has changed, and especially at night it can be cold.

By the end of the week, temperatures are expected to approach 15 from 20 degrees during the day in some parts of the country.

Sea temperatures are still good in several southern and eastern areas. At Aker brygge, 19 degrees was measured in the water on Tuesday, while 17.1 degrees was measured at Bystranda in Kristiansand.
