“The World’s Worst Man”, directed by Joachim Trier, did not reach the competition for the Palme d’Or at this summer’s Cannes Film Festival, but Renate Reinsve won the award for best female actress.
Now the film has a new opportunity to take home the prestigious award. On 13 March, the British Bafta Awards will be presented for the 75th time at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
In the non-English language class, the film received one of five nominations. Among the other nominees we found were, among others, Italy’s “The Hand of God” and Spain’s “Parallel Mothers”.
– This is of course a great honor, both for Renate, Joachim and the whole team. It’s been an amazing journey for us so far, and the film was so successful internationally that it pleased us a lot. This is a tremendous acknowledgment, said producer Andrea B. Ottmar in an email to NRK.
Best Leading Role
Renate Reinsve was nominated for best female lead along with, among others, Lady Gaga and Joanna Scanland. He considered the nomination a great honor.
– It feels surreal and absolutely fantastic to be nominated for Bafta. It’s a great honor, and it means a lot, he said.
