Jabalia is a town and refugee camp located north of Gaza City and has been the target of repeated airstrikes with many civilian casualties.
On 23 October, the IDF confirmed that they had bombed the refugee camp. The target of the attack was said to be a Hamas summit. How many people were killed or injured in the attack remains unclear.
UK-based independent organization Airwars, which seeks to get a general idea of how many civilians are killed in wars and conflicts around the world, now believes it has the answer.
This organization is a recognized actor that carries out comprehensive analyzes of civilian casualties resulting from military attacks in various countries, and recent analyzes are discussed by, among others Aftenposten.
IN THE analysis Airwars wrote that 126 civilians, including 69 children, were killed in the attack on Jabalia on October 23. In addition, at least 280 civilians were injured.
The organization further wrote that they have managed to identify at least 116 people who were killed. Among them, they found ten cases where more than one member of the same family lost their lives. In three cases, entire families were said to have been killed.
On October 24, the refugee camp was bombed again, but Airwars wrote that so far they do not know the exact number of attacks.
Israel’s attacks on refugee camps could amount to war crimes, according to the UN Human Rights Office.
