– We will make the biggest waffles in the world. I'm sure when you see a big waffle iron, confident comedian Rune Bjerga told NRK.
Bjerga was also the initiator of the world record attempt.
Currently, 23-year-old Joar Mortveit's waffle with a diameter of 98 centimeters is listed as the world's largest waffle in the Guinness Book of Records.
It was set last August in Skjold in the city of Vindafjord.
The world record attempt will take place at the opening of the Gladmat Festival in Stavanger next week, and on Thursday the plan is to test the waffle iron for the first time.
Requires almost 20 liters of dough

However, the dress rehearsal did not go according to plan, because the heating element that would stand under the iron did not arrive as planned.
– This is the dress rehearsal where everything goes wrong. There was too little dough and the heating element had three days left. “We're a little behind, but we're in good spirits,” Bjerga said.
– Now we are trying the dress rehearsal, so the premiere should be better.
During the Gladmat Festival, Bjerga should bring a much bigger excitement. The reason is that the six liters of dough delivered in a large bucket only managed to fill two of the six hearts in the iron.
– We have to double, fivefold or sevenfold to manage this. But what a big thing it is. “I was a little overconfident with respect to how much I needed,” the proponent said.

Norsk Metallretur in Mekjarvik outside Stavanger is behind a giant waffle iron that will break the previous record.
– We had a meeting with Rune Bjerga and started talking about what we could do regarding Gladmaten. Then he said; “let's make the world's biggest waffle,” and we immediately embraced the idea, said Knut Horsberg, general manager of Norsk Metallretur.
After several exchanges of ideas, they made an iron consisting of two steel plates cut round with edges. The waffle heart shape is cut from rolled flat steel.
– I hope we can do it, concluded the comedian with enthusiasm.
