The emergence of a new pro-European coalition in power in Poland halted the unannounced but inevitable Polexit process. This also fundamentally changed the situation in the EU because it removed Hungary’s ability to use its veto with impunity to force decisions in Brussels favorable to Budapest. Poland’s loss of support for Hungarians in the hitherto suspended process of disenfranchising them in the EU means that Orbán now risks losing his influence on events in society by invoking Article 7 of the EU Treaty.
