Come to Anfield worry-free

Napoli started the season full of adventure. In the Champions League, they have won five of the top five and top group A – and in the domestic league they are top of the table with 32 of 36 possible points so far. The gap with Atalanta is five points.

The last time Napoli won Serie A was with Diego Maradona in the team in 1987 and 1990, and since they have played this fall they are now the favorites to succeed this season.

The only player Luciano Spalletti has to leave in tonight’s game against Liverpool is Amir Rrahmani. The Kosovo midfielder has been sidelined since mid-October with a thigh injury. He started the last meeting between these two teams, and received a yellow card for a hard tackle on Luis Diaz.

Against Atalanta at the weekend, it was Kim Min-jae and Juan Jesus who played at centre-back. Norway’s Leo Skiri stigård started and scored against Rangers last week, but has so far been mostly on the bench for his new club. In total, he has played 188 minutes this season.

50 goals in 17 games

This summer, Napoli sold some of their biggest profiles to other clubs. Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea, Fabian Ruiz to Paris Saint-Germain, Arkadiusz Milik to Marseille, Lorenzo Insigne to Toronto, David Ospina to Al-Nassr and Dries Mertens to Galatasaray.

They have a new profile, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in particular has been impressive so far this season.

Napoli are top scorers in Serie A (30 goals) and Champions League (20 goals) so far this fall. Jürgen Klopp is preparing to face “the best team in Europe right now”.

– If they play like they do now, they can reach the final. They are shaped in Europe, Klopp said at Monday’s news conference when he was asked about Napoli this fall.

An Italian journalist wants to know if Spalletti is copying Liverpool’s style of play.

– Are they copying our style? Not. Spalletti is an experienced coach who has worked all over the world. Now it seems that experience combined with good signings and good decisions has resulted in a team playing very well together. They defend differently than us, but there are similarities and there are things we want to see.

Liverpool – Napoli kick-off at 21.00 tonight, and will be shown on TV 2 Sport Premium and TV 2 Play.
