Hovland led the European Tour’s flagship tournament at Wentworth before the final day on Sunday, but ended up finishing in a disappointing fifth with a total of minus 14.

Shane Lowry of Ireland won the tournament with a score of minus 17 overall ahead of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy of Spain with minus 16.

– I am the happiest man in the world right now, Lowry said in an interview broadcast by Viasport after the round, adding that he is playing golf in his life right now.

Lowry thus played 54 holes in the European Tour’s flagship tournament at Wentworth without a single bogey on the scorecard.

Viktor Hovland, who went through Sunday’s round with a minus two, was never able to make an impact on the final day in London.

Hovland himself was disappointed. In an interview with Eurosport, he described the last round as frustrating.
