Duda on what will happen after the election: I want this government to have the same vision | Policy

Andrzej Widower give an interview to‘Super Express”, in which he referred to the results of the parliamentary elections. He acknowledged that the possibility of implementing his political plans and, most importantly, his program depended on who won the elections.

– Remember that the president is not a lonely island in Poland, but must cooperate with the executive power. The constitution also requires him to do this, so he must cooperate with the government. I have to admit that I would like Poland to have a government that shares the same vision, at least about how to run Poland’s international affairs. Here good cooperation is very important. However, I ask for your understanding. “I have various political ideas that I will keep secret for now,” Duda stressed.

Is this the end of Duda and Zelenskiy’s friendship? Duda compared Ukraine to “a drowning man grasping at a straw”

He added that he was looking forward to Poland’s EU presidency, and that his top priorities for the next two years would be Atlantic cooperation and strengthening ties between Europe and the United States. When asked about his plans after his presidential term ends, he replied that he will be 53 years old, so “he will be a relatively young man and he will have to find his place on earth.”

Duda: Don’t forget that Zelensky is under enormous pressure

The president also referred to tense Polish-Ukrainian relations, as well as Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that Poland was working for Putin by blocking grain exports.

(In early May, the European Union imposed a ban on wheat imports from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The restrictions are in effect until September 15. Day later, the Polish government’s regulation of an unlimited ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products to Poland came into effect. Ukraine appealed this decision to the World Trade Organization – note. red)

– I tried to vent it on emotions. Let’s not forget that Zelensky is under enormous pressure. He sent men to the front lines, often to their deaths. After all, people die there every day. That’s not to say opposition and critical views of the government disappeared during the war, he said.

Duda also referred to the words of Mateusz Morawiecki who said that Poland would no longer send military equipment to Ukraine because it was now arming itself.

– But this does not mean that we will not transfer weapons to Ukraine at all. When the old equipment is replaced with modern ones, I see no problem in sending it to Ukraine, explained the Polish leader.

– We must control our emotions because let’s remember who will benefit most if Poland and Ukraine disagree. The consequences may be tragic, the president concluded.
