Energi introduces further changes in the ESG space

Following the example of world leaders in the energy sector, ORLEN Group’s Energa adapted its corporate governance structure to EU requirements. This change will enable more rapid information and monitoring of climate issues by company management. Energa pays special attention to the company’s impact on climate change and the impact of climate change on its business model.

Changes in corporate governance are not visible from the outside in their day-to-day lives, but are manifested by changes in the job description of one of the Energa SA Executive Board which directly oversees operational activities aimed at, among other things. for the transformation of the Energa Group towards a low emission economy, and in particular decarbonization. All this to improve processes for managing climate challenges and help to take full advantage of the opportunities associated with energy transformation.

The extension to include “climate” underscores the ENERGA Group’s long-term efforts to prevent or limit its impact on climate change and take specific actions to increase the ENERGA Group’s resilience to these impacts. In this way, the Vice President of Management Council’s superior role in assessing and managing climate risks and opportunities is also defined.

Strive for energy efficiency

In its Environment and Energy Policy, the Energy Group defines environmental and energy objectives and tasks, assigning specific tasks to be performed in this regard to each line of business. Its main goals include reducing negative impacts on the environment, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and operating according to the idea of ​​a circular economy. To achieve these priorities, among others, efforts such as – involvement in activities for innovative energy recovery and storage, implementation of innovations that enable better use of natural resources and minimize or prevent waste generation.

Since 2016, Energa SA has been included in the list of EMAS environmental and environmental management audits, promoted by the European Commission. Each year, the ENERGA Group provides evidence of the effective functioning, maintenance and improvement of this management system. Also in 2022, the Director General for Environmental Protection provides information on retaining sixteen Group companies on the EMAS list.

Fitch is positive about Energi’s role

In November 2022, international rating agency Fitch Ratings upgraded the company’s long-term foreign and domestic currency ratings from “BBB-” to “BBB+” with a stable outlook. He stressed the importance of the Energy Group as a key element for the implementation of the ORLEN2030 strategy in the field of energy transformation, playing an important role in investing in zero and low emission energy sources.

The energy of the ORLEN Group is a leader among domestic energy groups in terms of sharing of energy generation structures from renewable sources, and in its projects focuses heavily on the development of renewable energy sources. Currently, around 40% of the installed capacity of the ENERGA Group’s generation assets comes from RES. in autumn of this year the construction of the Wielbark PV photovoltaic field with a capacity of 62 MW in the warmińsko-mazurskie province. The construction of the 65 MW Mitra PV farm in the province will begin in Greater Poland soon. Smaller photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of around 30 MW are also being implemented
