Krzysztof Ignaczak is one of the icons of Polish volleyball. With the national team, his achievements included: the 2014 world championship, the 2009 European championship gold medal, and in 2012 he became World League champion. His club career was equally rich, as he had five Polish championships to his name.

After ending his sports career, Ignaczak took over as president of Asseco Resovia Rzesów in 2018, With which he resigned two years later due to the team's poor results. He recently announced on his Instagram that he will be trying out a completely new role.

The former libero is not the only representative of the volleyball world who will contest the local elections in April. Marcin Możdżonek is running from his own election committee for the post of mayor of Olsztyn. On December 11 last year, the retired middle blocker was also announced as president of the Supreme Hunting Council.
