Ingerid Stenvold and Emil Gukild lead the broadcast of the World Cup in November and December.

Ingerid Stenvold and Emil Gukild will be presenters for NRK during the World Cup from Qatar in November and December, inform NRK.

Stenvold thus made a sports comeback for NRK, after he announced the transition from NRK Sport to NRK Nyheter and Dagsrevyen in 2010.

– I can hardly imagine a more challenging task. The World Cup is the largest sporting event in the world. The World Cup in Qatar also has a very problematic aspect outside of sport, and that will characterize the championship. The balance between letting football shine and covering the dark side of the regime and FIFA will be a huge challenge. It will be fun, and it will be difficult, said Stenvold.

Torbjørn Sarre-Jensen, editor-in-chief of events at NRK Sport, is delighted that Stenvold is back on the editorial staff during the WC.

– Ingerid is a very talented journalist and presenter. “We are very pleased to have him on our World Cup team and are confident that his experience with sport and news will be important in our coverage of the championship,” said Sarre-Jensen.

Gukild, on the other hand, is a familiar face on the surface of NRK Sports.

– Leading the World Cup will be a challenge I’m looking forward to. That the championship takes place in Qatar is very problematic, but in the choice between boycotting and highlighting what is happening on and off the pitch, I feel that the latter can make an even bigger difference. It will be a great security to have Norway’s most talented host Ingerid Stenvold in the team, said Gukild.
