KO will also mention Russia in resolution

Since early September, the increase by Polish authorities on the issue of war reparations from Germany to Poland has been one of the main narratives on the Polish political scene.

On Tuesday, a group of law and justice lawmakers submitted to the Sejm a draft resolution on war reparations from Germany. First, it will be the subject of the work of the foreign affairs committee.

Budka: Also mention Russia

The Civilian Coalition decided not to be left behind and also announced the submission of its project.

– If we talk about resolving war grievances and damages, we must talk about those who caused the outbreak of World War II, namely fascist Germany and the communist Soviet Union. In fact, the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact ruled that Germany could attack Poland on September 1, the Soviet Union joined this offensive on September 17 and Poland was divided – says Borys Budka, head of the knockout parliamentary club.

The politician announced that his party wanted to name Russia as the entity responsible for World War II “with all its consequences” in the reparations resolution.

In the event that Marshal Sejm refuses to add the draft KO to the agenda, the formation will propose the same amendment to the draft PiS.

PiS resolution draft

“The Republic of Seym Poland declares that the Polish State duly represented has never renounced its claims against the German State. Claims that these claims have been legally withdrawn or time-limited have no basis, neither moral nor legal. “- we read in the draft PiS.

The authors of the draft informed that they were referring to the Sejm resolution of September 10, 2004 which stated that Poland “has not received financial compensation and war reparations for the substantial damage and material and immaterial losses caused by German aggression, occupation, genocide and loss of independence through Poland”.

Polish Report

Let us recall that on Thursday, September 1, at the Royal Palace in Warsaw, the long-publicized report on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II was presented.

The team led by PiS MP Arkadiusz Mularczyk estimated Poland’s losses at PLN 6 trillion 220 billion 609 million. The next step in trying to complete a fix is to provide Germany with a diplomatic note on the matter.

Germany: The case has been resolved

Chancellor Olaf Scholz replied that the repair case was closed. According to the German side, it has been resolved by international law.

The German federal government refers to the 1990 two-fourth agreement on German unity in foreign policy. The signatories to the treaty were the German Democratic Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, France, the United States of America, Great Britain and the Soviet Union.
