Krosno County Council refers to the Resolution of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of 14 September 2022 on Poland requesting compensation for damage caused by Germany during World War II and the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of 18 April 2023.
regarding the need to regulate in Polish-German relations the issue of reparations, compensation and compensation for losses suffered by Poland and Poland as a result of Germany’s unlawful attack on Poland in 1939 and the subsequent German occupation, expressed his support for measures aimed at obtaining the compensation that Poland must pay from Germany for the damage caused by the outbreak of World War II by the Third German Reich.
The Republic of Poland suffered proportionally the greatest personal and property losses of any country invaded by the German Third Reich during World War II. These losses were not only the result of military operations, but were primarily the result of German occupation policy, in particular the deliberate and organized extermination of the population in the occupied territories of the Polish state, as well as the intensive exploitation of Polish society, including forced labor. and intentional destruction of property. As a result of the work of the Parliamentary Team to Estimate the Amount of Compensation to be Given to Poland from Germany for Damages Caused During World War II and the experts invited by it, these losses were estimated and described in the Report on losses suffered by Poland. as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II 1939-1945.
During World War II, Krosno County was also badly affected by German aggression and occupation. As a result, we suffered enormous material and intangible losses – infrastructure was destroyed: residential and public buildings, industrial plants, cultural monuments and museum collections. The magnitude of the loss of life must also be emphasized.
Therefore, we have the right to demand that the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany clearly accept its moral, political, historical, legal and financial responsibility for this destruction.
The Krosno County Council expects the Government of the Republic of Poland to take firm diplomatic and legal measures aimed at obtaining appropriate compensation from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. Poland must accept it in the name of a fundamental sense of justice, in the name of historical truth and in the name of genuine Polish-German reconciliation.
