Making his debut tonight: Wille spearheads the national team’s quest for success

The national team have European Championship meetings and qualifiers against Slovakia (at home tonight) and Finland (away on Sunday) this week.

Sports psychologist Erik Hofseth (Olympiatoppen) was there for five days.

– Most of what we do is an extension of the work that Christian Berge does. But we have already started a pretty close collaboration with Olympiatoppen. These include, among other things, nutrition and exercise psychology. “We will put more emphasis on that and use Olympiatoppen more closely as a national team group,” Wille told NTB.

The national team also drew some additional resources around physical coach Ole Martin Viken.

– We try to do more extensive follow-up between collections. We will also have a few more players in the “loop”. It requires a bigger team. For example, it is difficult for one physical coach to follow up on 50 players. It’s also important to have mental resources available to those who need them or to a nutritionist, says Wille.

He has Martin Boquist from Sweden as an assistant in a full-time position.

Norway will play WC in Poland and Sweden in January.

The last two years have not been great successes for the Norwegian men’s national team:

WC 2021: 6th place (lost in quarter-finals)

2021 Olympics: 7th place (lost in quarter-finals)

2022 EC: 5th place (number three in the main draw)
