YMCA lost after controversial score
Strømsgodset won 3-1 away against KFUM Oslo in the Eliteserien on Tuesday evening.
Ahead of Herman Stengel's 2-0, YMCA thought they should have been awarded a free kick when Godset's Logi Tómasson went “high foot” in a duel with YMCA stopper Momodou Lion Njie, who entered the duel with his head.
– I didn't dare enter properly with my head when the legs were so high, but it was definitely allowed, Momodou Lion Njie from the YMCA told TV 2 during the break.
YMCA coach Johannes Moesgaard wasn't so determined.
– Yes, that's a high kick. But during the break I said he had to sacrifice his teeth and hit him in the face, because then the referee would blow him. Otherwise, we won't get anything. We can't go backwards like that. “I need more heart and soul than that,” Moesgaard said of the situation to TV 2 at the break.
Strømsgodset took the lead after six minutes. Eirik Ulland Andersen scored after a beautiful strike.
YMCA controlled most of the game in the first half, but did not create as many chances.
Instead, it was Strømsgodset who was effective. When Herman Stengel scored 2-0 just before halftime.
After the break, the YMCA received a reduction. Midfielder Simen Hestnes showed off his kick and snatched the ball into the far corner from 15 meters. So the score becomes 2-1.
The home team continued to press for goals and created several big chances, but once again it was the away team who scored as Stengel made it 3-1.
