Prague 5 and Lithuania officially end Očenášek | Prague project 5 | News

In the presence of the honorary guards of the Czech Republic Army and the Lithuanian Navy, a ceremonial wreath was laid on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ludvík Očenášek. The life and work of this important Czech designer, inventor and resistance fighter is also remembered by a number of figures.

“I think he was discovered by the creator and editor of the radio program Magion, Mr. Budil and another person, whose name unfortunately I can’t remember. And they broadcast programs for children and about science. I think they discovered and cared for the legacy of Mr. Očenášek, ” explained the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, Vladimír Balaš.

“He was an inspirational person who became a role model for many. At the same time, he was the vanguard of today’s elite. It was about an elite scientist, athlete and Sokol. I think, in short, he brought to Czech society at that time a a healthy model of how a patriot should truly look and function,” explained Prague 5th district councilor David Dušek.

Prague 5, together with the Lithuanian embassy in the Czech Republic, whose headquarters hangs a memorial plaque commemorating Očenášek’s bravery during resistance activities during the First World War, have set the goal of bringing the life and work of this great man closer. Active elementary and senior school students, for example, participate in the Očenášek project.

“It was a great and enriching collaboration that helped us a lot. On the one hand, connecting with the local communities and getting to know them, it also provided an opportunity for us to get to know the personality of Ludvík Očenášek,” Lithuanian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, assessed project.

“A beautiful thing has been created at the town hall, which has grown to international proportions. A small local project turned into a very large project, in which our local schools, secondary schools and community centers take part,” concluded the mayor of the district of Prague 5, Renáta Zajíčková.

Ludvík Ocenášek’s personality was unfairly ignored and practically completely forgotten for many years. Fortunately, thanks to this successful project, the Czechs were able to see what a giant they had in their ranks.
