Rau: lack of compensation creates political problems and weighs on the future of German-Polish relations – Wiadomości

– 80 years after the end of World War II, it is time to comprehensively regulate the question of German responsibility – said the head of Polish diplomacy when asked about the publication of reports on war losses and real opportunities for reparations.

– T.o is in the interests of Poland, in the interests of Germany, it is also necessary for the future of good relations with Polish-German neighbors, for the optimal use of the potential for Polish-German cooperation, he stressed.

He predicted that there might be a desire to resolve this issue on the German side.

Political dialogue

Zbigniew Rau pointed out that “the absence of redress creates political problems, weighs on the future of German-Polish relations” and “political dialogue is needed, which will then lead to a common solution to these problems.”

He said information regarding the government’s actions in this regard would be carried out in such a way as not to “obstruct communication through diplomatic and political channels”.

Dissent

The minister acknowledged that “we are currently fundamentally different from the German government in important respects.”

– No doubt about Ukraine. We believe that he is part of the free world and should be helped as much as possible to repel Russian aggression. Poland spared no effort and resources to demonstrate this assistance. Meanwhile, the scope and speed of Germany’s support for Ukraine featured a deliberate delay, as if it was intended that regardless of the outcome of this war, German-Russian relations would suffer as little as possible, also at the expense of German credibility. in the free world, said the head of diplomacy.

He also drew attention to the failure of German policies towards Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe and the collapse of the German economic model, which was based on access to cheap Russian gas.

Poland cannot be used

Zbigniew Rau points out that Poland is an economically weak and indebted country after the fall of communism, and “many countries took advantage of our weakness and got used to this situation”.

– Today Poland is more powerful and cannot be used easily, which not everyone in Europe and the world should like – he said.
