Russian invasion of Ukraine: – Killed by themselves

Russian President Vladimir Putin will sooner or later be killed by his own people.

This is what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi claims in the new Ukrainian documentary “The Year”produced and directed by renowned Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Komarov.

– The moment will surely come when the fragility of the Putin regime will be felt inside the country. Then the predator will eat the predator. Then came the crucial moment. They need a reason, and then they want to remember the words of Komarov, Zelenskyj and others. They will remember, and they will find reasons to kill a killer, said Zelenskyj.

– Don’t know

Komarov’s documentary was published on Saturday, the day after the anniversary of Putin’s massive invasion of Ukraine. At the time of writing, it has around two million views.

As well as interviews with Zelenskyj and other high-profile figures in Ukraine’s political and military leadership, the documentary takes viewers to different parts of Ukraine.

– Depends on the war

Komarov was one of the first journalists to document Russian abuses against civilians in the suburbs of Kyiv Butsha, Irpin and Hostomel. He was also among the first to enter free territory in Kharkiv district and Kherson city.

Zelenskyi’s brutal prediction about Putin is the first part of a longer argument for why the president thinks it’s important to constantly remind the outside world what Russia is really doing in Ukraine.

– Will it work? Yes. When? I didn’t know that, he said.

Vladimir Putin made harsh accusations against Western countries in his address to the nation.

Uncertainty about sanctions

There is currently little indication that a so-called palace coup in Russia may be imminent.

Despite the great uncertainty surrounding independent polls being conducted in Russia, all available data indicates that Putin is still a popular person among the Russian people.

Western sanctions against Russia are partly designed to create discontent with the Russian regime, including a ban on the export of so-called luxury goods to Russia.

Dagbladet commentator Morten Strand, meanwhile, believes that something else will affect Putin’s support from Russian citizens before they get tired of the sanctions.

– Before the economy knocks them down, I think all the homecoming in coffins will be a bigger burden, said Strand, a former Russian correspondent, during Dagbladet TV’s annual war summary earlier this week.

Penalty Can works if Putin’s close circle is enough, Strand said.

– The second thing that can happen is enough people in circles realize that something has to be done and stage a coup, he says.
