The 218th theatrical season will be significant worldwide, and not only thanks to the collaboration with international opera associations such as Opera Co-Pro and Opera Europa. But also because Káťa Kabanová’s performances were registered at two international festivals. Janáček Hukvaldy and Janáček Luhačovice. As part of Opava’s eighth birthday celebrations, the theater is preparing for two world premieres.

Jiří Seydler, head of drama and director, Silesian Theater Opava: The next premiere will be an original thing that I prepared here for Opava and its name is Carlo’s Opava divertimento. Italian musicologist and music critic Antonio Smaldone presented at a press conference a recently invented opera by Geatan Donizetti entitled Dalinda, which was discovered this year in a library in Naples. Audiences will see a play that was last staged 190 years ago.

Antonio Smaldone, Italian musicologist and music critic: “Donizetti made a lot of effort to make this work visible, unfortunately it was rejected by the censors at the time. Despite all efforts, even Dalinda could not be introduced in Naples. Donizetti then left for Paris, and the work that remained in Naples was divided into several parts, some were lost, some were sold, and certain parts of the libretto remain in the Neapolitan library.

Aleš Kománek, director of the Silesian Theater in Opava: “We are very honored that, thanks to our participation in international opera associations, we can present this work for the first time in the world in a complete and fully directed form.”

Thanks to the theatrical partnership with the ART club, audiences will see the comedy Pravda for the first time this season and the comedy Ve smyčce in future seasons. The novelty will be two new subscriber groups. Group O is for opera and Group C is for drama.
