Tomasz Rakowski donated books about World War II to Monika Chabior. “They will refresh your memory”

I don’t know how someone could say such nonsense – said PiS Sejm candidate Tomasz Rakowski, commenting on the statements of the deputy mayor of Gdańsk, Monika Chabior, on Thursday. He stated that the German attack on Poland in 1939 was the result of a misunderstanding between the countries.

The incident occurred at Thursday’s Gdańsk City Council session. Members of the Law and Justice council, which is the city’s opposition, asked the city government about, among other things, the costs and forms of international cooperation undertaken by Gdańsk. During the discussion, Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk, Monika Chabior, spoke. He stated that “a lack of understanding between countries led to great tragedies in the past.” These words were condemned not only by opposition council members, but also by many local politicians and residents. We wrote more about this >>>HERE.

– I don’t know how someone can say such nonsense – said Sejm PiS candidate Tomasz Rakowski on Friday in front of the City Hall in Gdańsk. He came to the office with a bag of books, including about World War II, which he tried to give to Monika Chabior.

As Rakowski claims, “we have to react very quickly to this kind of cretinism” because “this is not the first time that high-ranking officials have talked about this kind of nonsense at the City Hall in Gdańsk.” He further argued, “Germany’s attack on Poland was not due to the fact that Germany and Poland could not communicate.”

– Germany wanted to exterminate the Polish nation, increase living space and take over all of Europe. In the first days, weeks and months, Polish intelligentsia, priests, lawyers, officers in uniform, doctors and so on were killed – explains Rakowski, adding that he came to the town hall to distribute history books published by the Institute of National Remembrance.

– I hope to refresh your memory or provide knowledge to the President, because what reason would someone have to say such nonsense, such nonsense? Either it was due to a lack of historical knowledge, that is, general and common ignorance, or due to loyalty to Germany. This was aimed at shifting German blame onto Poland, Rakowski said.

SIMILAR STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT PIOTR GRZELAK

As Rakowski recalled, a similar statement had been made by an official from Gdańsk, the deputy mayor of Gdańsk, Piotr Grzelak. – Mr. Grzelak said that the bad words of Poles towards Germans led to the outbreak of World War II. He faced a wave of criticism, apologizing for these words – he recalled and expressed the hope that “Mrs. Chabior will also apologize for these words.”

– It is difficult for me to believe that in his mind there could have been a loyalty towards the Germans that led to self-censorship and an attempt to shift the blame onto the Poles. I think he needs a solid education, so I’ll give him the books, he announced.

Private presentations were not made because politicians are not allowed near the city president’s office on the third floor. Packages containing books are sent to the shipping office.

Tomasz Rakowski was “Radio Gdańsk Day Guest” on Friday. The vice president of Gdańsk also commented on the statement in the broadcast. You can listen to the conversation >>>HERE.
