During the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Prime Minister also emphasized Poland’s role in the context of fighting this challenge. – Acting for peace and defending the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, we act to save all of Europe. The whole world is facing this challenge, and Poland is playing a major role in it, said Mateusz Morawiecki.
War in Ukraine
The head of the Polish government said that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine was the first challenge. – The first is the war in Ukraine and everything connected with it. Acting for peace, we act not only to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine. We are also acting to save Europe, which doesn’t have to feel like a beleaguered fortress – he said.
– Poland played a fundamental role in this. We are in constant contact with Ukrainian friends and we know what they need. Their fight is also our fight for security, he added.
Order change
Another important element, according to Mateusz Morawiecki, is the change in the current energy order. – The second challenge is economic and energy transformation. We are dealing with existing policy changes, sometimes 180 degrees. We know that our EU partners want to rely on Russia. This economic model ends on February 24, 2022, he stressed.
The Prime Minister also spoke of the need for equal development opportunities. – The topic of more sustainable development in the world and in Europe has emerged at Davos in recent years. This is the third challenge. Development must be solidarity. The financial system must be rebuilt so that in many places it is possible to offer fishing rods instead of fish, he said.
The Economic Forum is a gathering of CEOs of the world’s richest companies, political leaders, and a group of intellectuals and journalists. Forum topics include the situation in Ukraine and energy issues. The Economic Forum will last until Thursday.
