America’s gingerbread town has been named the largest in the world

Bergen residents walk around and believe that the Gingerbread Town of Bergen is the largest in the world.

But the official record has been secured by the Americans.

Guinness Book of Records has now been officially announced that the gingerbread town “Gingerbread Lane”, exhibited by American Jon Lovitch at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, is the largest on the planet.

WE HAVEN’T TRIED YET

The gingerbread town in New York consists of 164 buildings and weighs more than 1.5 tons.

It’s still an enigma when compared with the city of Bergen, which this year will probably have up to 2,000 gingerbread buildings.

– What’s fun?

– Yes, disaster, it should be on BA’s front page tomorrow. No. “We intend to register it again with Guinness, but not this year,” said Steinar Kristoffersen, Pepperkakebyen’s father and general manager of Bergen Sentrum AS.

It turns out that Kristoffersen took the Guinness list very calmly.

The gingerbread town of Bergen isn’t even close to Guinness yet.

– They have several criteria, including regarding building dimensions. So we’ll wait a bit. We first need to get clear on where Gingerbread City will be in the future, Kristoffersen said.

– THEY WERE ALLOWED TO COME TO US

– But wouldn’t it be a shame if a gingerbread town of only 164 houses was included in the list of the largest cities in the world?

– Yes, that’s definitely an all-time Guinness record. But you know, we, Bergen, don’t need a Guinness record. Everyone knows that we have the largest gingerbread city in the world. “They can come to us, we don’t chase them,” Kristoffersen joked.

– After all, the most important thing for us is not to have the largest gingerbread town in the world, but to provide the people of Bergen with the best pre-Christmas experience in the world.

Kristoffersen said that Pepperkakebyen was in the Guinness book for several years in the mid-90s.

– No official records, but presented, at least in Norwegian books. At the time, there were no comparable gingerbread towns, so there were no official records, he said.

– But now the gingerbread town phenomenon is spreading throughout the world. Actually, it is. We got Google alerts when people wrote about the gingerbread city, and we saw that the media in all small and large cities, especially in Norway and the Nordic countries, wrote about the city.

BUILD YOUR OWN CITY

The Guinness-listed gingerbread town is also the work of one man. The 37-year-old chef makes everything himself.

Little by little, it had been created in the small kitchen of the man’s apartment in the South Bronx, wrote the newspaper The New York Times.
