Another big win for Norway in WC handball

Norway had to work hard for some time to let Argentina go. It was an opponent that the Norwegian team lost 27-23 during last year’s Olympics.

Norway went from 16-12 in the first half to take a 20-13 lead in just under nine minutes of the second half. Thus, all the tension in the match was removed, and the Norwegian was able to finish the job without using too much force.

– We have to be satisfied with this. We had problems with the defensive structure at the start but in the last 12 minutes of the first half we won the structure. “Then I calmed down, because I knew that everything would slowly but surely work out,” national team manager Jonas Wille told TV3.

– The positive is that we can adjust to what happened.

Sander Sagosen, Sebastian Barthold and Magnus Abelvik Rød are also interested in scoring this time around. For the second time in a row, Sagosen was named the best in the field.

From the trailer to the debut

In 2016, 14-year-old Grøndahl sat in the stands during some of Norway’s EC matches in Poland. He was there with his handball loving family.

– I remember the scene from one of the games in 2016. Then I thought: This will be… me one day, Grøndahl told NTB.

He started the World Cup on the bench against North Macedonia on Friday, but got some game time against Argentina. It gives goals and assists.

The Elverum man was left out of last year’s EC squad but Jonas Wille included him once he had to pick his men.

The next “last”.

Kristian Sæverås was preferred from the start in goal for Norway on Sunday. He recovered well from that against Argentina.

Norway beat North Macedonia on Friday and will face the Netherlands on Tuesday. These teams are fighting for first place. Victory there means the Norwegians start the main draw with four points, but the Netherlands have an interesting squad under Swedes coach Staffan Olsson.

The teams that win all the group games make the way to the quarter-finals even easier.

Most likely, Germany will win Group E, which Norway will play in the next phase of the World Cup. Germany beat Serbia 34-33 in what was supposed to be the pool final on Sunday.
