Lost 440,000 followers

440,000 in 48 hours.

That was the result after the Spanish giants shared a photo of some rainbow flags outside Camp Nou, with the caption “We fly rainbow flags to pay tribute to LHTBQ+”

Unkind comments

The reactions were not long in coming and it wasn’t just the fewer followers that were the consequence of the post. A number of harsh comments followed.

– I don’t think anything of this.

– Unfollow this account now, there among some comments under the picture.

Support from other clubs

Fortunately, Barcelona is not the only club to show its support. Ten other Spanish clubs also posted similar photos showing their support for LHTBQ+.

Only one club, UD Las Palmas, gained more followers following the post.

The rest – Valencia, Athletic, Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Getafe, Celta, Mallorca and Alavés – also lost followers due to the support.

The official FC Barcelona account has 122 million followers on Instagram.
